Our Teachers

  • Lydia Buckler (Founder)

Lydia has been passionate about movement from a child, be it countless hours of dance classes or attempting back flips off the living room sofa- it made her feel alive. Her initial discovery of Yoga was in her later teenage years, the curiosity in the practice continually grew from this point.

Almost ten years on from then Lydia trained to be a yoga teacher and immersed herself in the wider practice. Training & working as a contemporary dancer, Lydia was curious to learn people’s yogic journeys from all different walks of life, ages, physicality's & capabilities, consequently learning what it really means to teach yoga, share and encourage experiences. Lydia furthered her studies with dynamic practices of The Rocket and Mandala Vinyasa & Shamanism with The Yoga People in 2017 and later went on to train in Pregnancy Yoga.

Lydia teaches a vitalising & powerful practice that is dappled with functional movement and explorative sequencing. Believing, that the practice of yoga should not be about embodying an idealistic view of how it should look but rather connecting our conscious mind to a feeling. Additionally, and possibly most importantly, representing the ethos that yoga is a full-bodied experience that lingers long after the physical practice. Lydia gives huge thanks to all of her teachers that inspired her curiosity in this practice.

Giovina has recently completed a 50-hour Yin & Chakras and a 20-hour Mandala Yoga Training, both with the Yoga People here in London. • Miriam Brightbart

Yoga, for me, is about coming home to yourself. There are limitless possibilities for self-discovery and acceptance through yoga, and I truly believe that through exploration and play everyone can develop a stronger relationship with themselves.

I was never particularly athletic growing up, and struggled with anxiety throughout my teenage years. Finding yoga taught me a new approach to movement and body awareness that felt like the best type of healing. In time, I cultivated a yoga practice off the mat, exploring compassion, mindfulness and gratitude in all aspects of my life.

As I develop my teaching, I am diving deeper into what I truly want to bring to other peoples' lives - functional, fun movement which is powerful but accessible, breath centred practices which tap into our nervous systems and release stress, and mindful philosophies which help us tune into the present moment and understand our own needs and desires. This practice is not one size fits all so no matter what your experience or background is, I'd love to share this with you!

  • Sahar Navar

Sahar is a doctoral researcher in sustainable design and has been practicing yoga for over 20 years. Sahar did their first teacher training in 2017 in Bali, and the 200 hour Ashtanga Vinyasa TT in 2020. Sahar’s flows are dynamic and joyful, encouraging you find pleasure in every pose and to listen to your body to find a balance between strength and flexibility, a practice to carry off the mat.

  • Sharia Johnson

Sharia has been practicing yoga for over 10 years alongside being a professional Contemporary dancer and has never looked back! As a touring performer, during pregnancy and as a mom, yoga has been her foundation, she knows first-hand the importance of physical self-care. Being able to share this super accessible, grounding and healing practice with others has been hugely fulfilling.

Sharia teaches with a loving, dynamic but light-hearted energy. Flow is naturally at the core of her classes but the most important thing is holding the space for yogis to feel completely themselves and ultimately present.

Care, physical and mental well-being appear as life ethea which ought to be cultivated. Vanessa‘s classes are a powerful and challenging moving meditation. They draw from anatomical principals with a strong emphasis on the breath. Vanessa has created an accessible practice which develops a grounding feeling through the use of yoga postures and functional, safe alignment. Her barre classes are energising and upbeat. Expect to work hard and have fun!

  • Zoë Markos-Thresher

For many years, movement to Zoë had only ever existed in the context of sport and competition. She unexpectedly stumbled across yoga whilst travelling and working abroad; and what once seemed like a fun, challenging class to go to once in a while, gradually became a consistent and non-negotiable practice.

What brings Zoë back to yoga every time is the profound power this practice has to peel away all those unwanted layers of beliefs that we've gathered over time about ourselves. To be able to turn up as you are, bring it wherever you are, with no pressure of it looking a certain way and being okay with whatever the outcome - this was the magic that kept bringing her back to the mat.

Zoë teaches a dynamic vinyasa practice but also loves any opportunity to teach a slow, restorative flow to calm and settle. Whatever the class, you will find the focus on going deeper into the breath rather than deeper into the pose. Weaved into her flows you will find strength, mobility, playfulness, stillness and movement combined. This practice is yours and this space is your playground to explore, and breathe, of course!

  • Zoe Rowe

I discovered yoga over 12 years ago in a hot yoga studio in Sydney. Initially addicted to the sweat, I soon discovered the additional benefits of the practice. I’m passionate about sharing the tools yoga brings to be present in the moment, see the beauty in what’s around us and find joy in the smallest things. I love teaching a playful but challenging class, whether that’s through dynamic vinyasa, a mindful flow, or finding stillness in Yin. Passionate about counteracting the impact of London’s busy, sedentary lifestyle on our body and minds, I aim to incorporate functional movement into my classes. My main styles of yoga I practice and teaches include dynamic Mandala Vinyasa and Rocket classes, functional movement and mindful focussed flows, and finding stillness in Yin and Yoga Nidra classes.
